Without a doubt one of the best ways to find quality car insurance coverage is to look auto insurance company ratings. The ratings can tell you exactly how well a certain company is being operated and managed. Most companies are rated by factors such as: customer satisfaction, pricing, billing and payments, customer support, and by the variety of policies that are offered. If you want to make sure that you only get your insurance through the best company, you will want to review ratings. Although you may be satisfied with an insurance company that does not have the best overall ratings, you should at least take a look at some other companies that have gotten better ratings in order to see how they compare.
One question that I often get about car insurance ratings is, “How are the ratings determined?” My answer to that question is that it completely depends on who rated it. You and I could create our own rating system for auto insurers, but it probably would not have nearly as much credibility as a comparison rating by a professional company. When it comes to auto insurance company ratings, I recommend checking out the JD Power ratings. They rate the insurers on a number of different factors and award the best few companies each year. Their reviews are always kept up to date (e.g. there is a new review each year) and this makes it a very helpful for people interested in getting a new policy.
When many people take a look at car insurance company ratings, they are often shocked to see that the company winning awards is not necessarily the company doing the most advertising on television. If you take a look at the JD Power reviews, you can see that they take a look at 5 different factors and rate them each on a scale of 1 to 5 for each company. Should you only base your car insurance decision on these ratings? No, in fact, you may find out that a certain company gives much better coverage to their customers than they were given credit for on the power ratings. There are always going to be other companies and news sources that take the time to review car insurance companies.
Obviously automobile insurance company ratings are helpful, but they should not be the full basis for your decision to do business with a certain company. In my opinion, the location in which you live has a lot of influence over whether a company is able to connect to their customers and provide the coverage that people are looking for. It’s always fun to look at the ratings so that you know where your coverage stands in comparison to other companies. However, take the ratings with a grain of salt and do more research (e.g. get quotes) before you ever purchase a policy.
